St. Alphonsus School offers a wide range of athletic opportunities for Junior High students. Physical literacy is integral to the overall education of all our students, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. While all students have the ability to incorporate physical literacy through the Physical Education curriculum, participation in team sports promotes the development of leadership skills, self-confidence, resiliency, discipline and team building skills. 

Cross Country

Season: September 

The Grizzlies Cross-Country team is made up of co-ed athletes from grades 7-9. The cross-country team has no tryout, all participants are welcome to join! The team will compete in two races in September, a trials race and the championship race. 

Soccer

Season: September - October 

Teams: Senior Boys  & Senior Girls

Coaches: Holly Pagnotta and Lindsey Derksen  

The Grizzlies Soccer program is comprised of two teams; Senior Boys & Senior Girls. Teams will compete in regular season games during the months of September and early October; with playoffs being held in mid-late October. This year we had one Co-ed team, but look forward to having two teams next season.

 

Volleyball

Season: October - December

Teams: Senior Girls & Senior Boys

Coaches: Marlon Almaden, Tanya Savage, Heather Riley, Joanna Czuprynski

 The Grizzlies Volleyball program offers two teams; Senior Boys and Senior Girls.  Senior teams have one major tournament, a regular season and playoffs. Length of the season depends on the success of each team. 

Basketball

Season: December - March

Teams: Senior Boys & Senior Girls

Coaches: Holly Pagnotta, Kylee Leblanc, Lindsey Derksen, Jussel Padua

The Grizzlies Basketball program offers two teams; Senior Girls and Senior Boys. Senior teams have one major tournament, a regular season and playoffs. Length of the season depends on the success of each team. 

Badminton

Season: April - May

Teams: Senior Co-Ed 

Coaches: Sheila Crane and Katherine Fuhrer  

The Grizzlies Badminton team is made up of co-ed athletes from grades 7-9. The team is then divided into two sub teams. The Junior development team, which practices all season but does not compete, and the senior team, which competes in a regular season and playoffs. Athletes compete in singles, doubles, and mixed-doubles.

Season: May - June

Slo-Pitch

Season: April - May

Team: Senior Co-Ed
